High-achieving friends
Friends of mine who are writers will launch a blog in the next week. More on that when it happens. What it has me thinking tonight is how much I appreciate knowing people who have set goals and accomplished them.
It turns out for many of us that getting it right in life is more difficult than we expect it to be. Maybe this is the way it should be. Still, it’s a shock to find that the dreams we cherish most sometimes elude us.
I’m not saying that is unfair, just that it is disappointing and sad. I deal with this by looking to those who achieve their dreams, and the larger the better. I am convinced that this is the root of “American Idol”’s success. So when my friends launch their blog, which reveals them to be the kind of creative, interesting people they always hoped to be, I will be cheering them loudly, and hoping to be like them.

Thank you for your kinds words. Your support of our blog launch gave us more than you’ll know. I can’t tell you how much it means to have other writers believe in us.
It’s true what you say about dreams – it’s risky business to dream big. If we want to live a big life, the chances of a big fall go along with it. I find having the support of other writers and community is the only way I can manage.
Your comment on American Idol nails it – we are hungry to understand; and we look to people who are out there doing it. I, for one, watched the show last week. I think I might even have cried when the last person got the boot. But the fact that she took the risk – that’s all that matters.
Thanks for taking the time. Keep writing from the center of your true heart. I will keep reading.

Hi Nat,
I want to echo QM’s comments. The support you’ve given us is awesome. (I’m finding myself these days using these descriptors like there’s no tomorrow – “awesome,” “coolest,” “incredible.” But I honestly feel that way about what we’re all doing. Pursuing our dreams. And that’s what your blog is about. So, let’s keep at it. We’re here for you, too.
