It’s Like Magic
Over the last week and a half I’ve been compiling a list of ideas and people to connect with as I am looking for new job/career opportunities. My current job will be ending on June 13th, so I wanted to get a head start on obtaining a new position.
Years ago when I was in California, I worked with a gentlemen from a large company who did security assessments among other things. Last week I put his name on my list and reviewed my old contacts for his info. I had been wondering if the information I had about him was still current. So, everyday his name popped into my head as I reviewed my list and thought of possibilities that I might be interested in.
Lo and behold, I received, “out of the blue”, an email from him inviting me to be a connection in the service called LinkedIn. I guess it has been almost 10 years since we have spoken in any fashion. Some people would say this is coincidence. I don’t believe in coincidences. It seems more like magic to me.
I’m sure you have had similar experiences. You think about someone you haven’t seen or spoken to in awhile and then they call you or you “bump” into them at a store. You know who is on the phone when it rings.
I think these are great examples of what happens when you focus your mind on something. I believe there are things in this world that we don’t completely understand, but we see the effects. The more I recognize these types of events or connections in my life, the more they seem to happen. I suspect that they are happening all the time. It’s just that we are not necessarily aware of them.
Have a great day!
