Building Fires

If the world is cold, make it your business to build fires. – Horace Traubel

As we go through our day we inevitably see things that could use some help, some personal involvement or a different perspective. How many times do you stop and try to help? How many times do you offer a suggestion or give a little bit of your time?

I suspect that you are more apt to help other people than yourself. Is that true for you? It seems that the real challenge is making those personal changes which ultimately make our personal growth leap forward. I’ve been known to start cleaning instead of working on my own personal “stuff.” By the way, I don’t get excited about cleaning.

The most important thing that you can do is notice that you need some help, whatever that may be; kind words, a behavior change, to overcome a fear, someone that will listen to you, work on an emotional dysfunction or just a simple break from the hustle and bustle of life. It really doesn’t matter.

The second most important thing you can do is to take action for yourself. A lot of times it will be the hardest thing you do, but it will always be the best thing.

Have a great day!

Michael
