A Brighter World
I believe in taking a positive attitude toward the world. My hope still is to leave the world a little bit better than when I got here. – Jim Henson
The more light you allow within you, the brighter the world you live in will be. – Shakti Gawain
Every day you read about the world’s problems and how we need to fix them. The solutions are always these huge creations that require millions and billions of dollars, the work of a large amount of people and a lot of luck.
I think we are missing a fundamental path to positive change in the world. That path starts with us. As we change, become more positive, live in the world with integrity and practice what we preach, the world will change.
Each of us is the key. You can’t complain about polluters if you throw trash out your car window. You can’t complain about countries that act aggressively if you act aggressive towards your family, neighbors and strangers. In other words, we have to reduce our own hypocrisy.
If we simply work on our on “stuff”, develop and practice compassion, practice what makes us happy, truly follow what we believe in and not force our will on others, we would go a long way towards making the world a better place.
The solution seems simple to me. As we learn to respect and love ourselves, our respect and love for others will grow. But, it has to start with each of us.
Michael
